Presenting for Geeks: Crafting more effective technical presentations
Meeting of the C++ user group Rhein-Neckar 6:30 p.m. on July 23, 2015
at Dezernt 16, Emil-Meier-Str. 16, Heidelberg.
Technical presentations have a reputation for great content being
presented in a rather dry way. A more visual presentation style, on
the other hand, has a reputation of being entertaining but weak on the
content. It is however perfectly possible – and beneficial – to
combine these two styles to create more engaging presentations that
help the audience remember the important points better. This workshop
will show you how to do that and explain how and why this approach works.
We’ll be covering the preparation phase, slide design – including the
science behind the use of visuals – and will round things off with
tips on the delivery. Participants are asked to bring some paper for
their notes and for the exercises. A laptop is not required.
